As we get older time starts to matter more and more, we start to understand how precious the moments we have really are. Not wasting time starts to become important as we want to make the most of what we have. This article will teach you how better organize your time so you can have more time.

The biggest time waster for me is watching television. Many times I’ll just flip through the channels when I am bored. Since there are only a few programs I really like to watch, I learned how to turn off the TV and do something else more engaging until those shows come on.

Taking it a step further, think about recording your favorite programming so you can watch it at your convenience. This way, you’re not stuck to following a schedule set by the television and you can also speed through the commercials. Think about how much time you can save by doing that. It adds up fast. In addition to television, another huge waste of time is spent by waiting. Whether it is at the tax office or the doctor, bring something with that you can work on while you are there.

The second greatest time waster is when I have to sit and wait somewhere. Being stuck at the DMV is not fun for anyone, and waiting at the doctor’s office can be very boring. I learned that by bringing my homework with me, or doing work on my laptop made the time go faster, and I had extra time later to do what I want.

I also learned that by getting news and information online and downloading the podcasts and listening to them in the car also saved me time. The car radio is a huge time killer, and waiting through commercials to hear news can be better used.

Having the radio on is distracting and annoying sometimes, but it is not as dangerous as using a cell phone while driving. Keep your hands on the wheel and the phone off. Spend that time doing something safer and more productive.

This is just a couple of general examples to prick your brain into thinking of ways to save time in your own life. Think of how your days are structured and notice how much empty time you have, and then fill those spaces with things that will save and improve the quality of time you have.
